 Kalumba is now being played to the new herd of African elephants at the Reid Park Zoo!
Kalumba (pronounced KA-LOOM-BA) features a hybrid blend of traditional and contemporary music from Uganda, Guinea, Mali and the many worlds of Spirit.
All tracks are original compositions utilizing traditional instruments from Uganda, East Africa and Mali and Guinea, West Africa. Instruments include the akogo (Ugandan thumb piano), the Karimba, (Congolese thumb piano), the adungu (Ugandan harp), the djembe and dunun (Malian and Guinean drums).
